How Long Does IndexNow Take to Index a Page?
IndexNow dramatically accelerates indexing on Bing. Here's what the data actually shows including typical timelines, what causes delays, and exactly how to verify your pages are indexed.
Typical Indexing Times
Factors That Affect IndexNow Indexing Speed
If Bing cannot fetch your key file within its timeout, the submission is rejected entirely. Ensure the file returns 200 OK, is accessible without authentication, and contains only the key string.
Pages with fast TTFB (Time to First Byte) are prioritized in the indexing pipeline. Slow servers (>2s TTFB) may cause indexing delays even with valid IndexNow submissions.
Thin, duplicate, or low-quality content may be crawled but not indexed by Bing's quality filters, regardless of IndexNow submission.
Pages blocked by robots.txt or tagged with noindex will not be indexed despite submission. Check these before submitting.
Submitting thousands of URLs simultaneously may slightly delay individual page processing as Bing works through the queue.
Unlike traditional crawling, IndexNow priority indexing is less affected by domain authority. New sites benefit more from IndexNow than established ones.
