IndexNow with WordPress & Yoast SEO Premium
Yoast SEO Premium includes IndexNow integration that automatically notifies Bing when you publish or update content. Here's how to set it up.
Setup Steps
Install/Upgrade to Yoast SEO Premium
Purchase Yoast SEO Premium from yoast.com. Install the premium plugin zip via WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Activate your license key.
Enable IndexNow
Navigate to: Yoast SEO → Settings → Integrations → IndexNow. Toggle "Enable IndexNow" to On. Yoast will generate an API key and automatically create the key file at your WordPress root.
Verify Key File Accessibility
Yoast displays the generated key in the settings panel. Confirm the key file is accessible at: https://yourdomain.com/{key}.txt. The file should return only the key string.
Configure Submission Types
Yoast IndexNow settings allow you to control which content types trigger submissions. By default it includes posts, pages, and custom post types that are set as public. Deselect any types you don't want submitted.

- • Submissions are triggered on post publish and on significant updates (Yoast determines significance by content change detection)
- • Only indexable content is submitted pages marked noindex are excluded
- • Yoast queues submissions and sends in batches to avoid API rate limits
